Businesses have become more competitive in creating the need for more innovative ways to improve performance to become more successful. Despite these changes of business environments, few organizations are aware of the most effective forms of employee motivation that have long-term benefits In improving the performance of the company among its competitors. This therefore triggers a very important question “what is the impact on motivation on employee performance?” The study aims at investigating the impact of motivation on the performance of employees. The study also aimed at identifying the various forms of motivation. It explores why some firms choose to employ intrinsic or extrinsic forms of motivation. For an organization to determine the best form of motivation, they have to know to what extent motivation affects its workers. To know the extent to which motivation boosts the work morale of the workers is an important objective of this research. The study also seeks to identify at what point the firm should stop using a certain form of motivation on its employees. The research investigates both the advantages and disadvantages of motivation on the employees and the organization. The study explored on intrinsic and extrinsic forms of motivation and the role they play in employee performance. The Hypothesis tested included if intrinsic or extrinsic form of motivation is the best in implementing long-term and shorter performance goals of the company.
